Help for the Heroes - Eden Camp - 3rd April 2011

A pleasant start to the season for us, the weather kind and the people friendly. Seven hundred and fifty bikers, at £10 per bike, descended on Eden Camp to raise money for the soldiers. It was our privilege to support such an event.

This season we will be featuring Harry, our new Principal, and his 134 year old friend, a vintage Echo Cornet. Come and check this out, it will be well worth it!

ECHO CORNET - F. BESSON - CIRCA 1877

Good Friday Service of Witness - 22nd April 2011

What a wonderful day topped off by beautiful sunshine and lovely people.

Thank you to all members for your attention to the job.  It paid off!

Thanks too to all our guests from the Salvation Army and Swinton Band, you made the day special.

May 21st / 22nd - Malton Food Festival - 2011

Well done to Fitzwilliam Estates and Associates for a wonderful event.  The atmosphere was electric: the buzz of conversation coupled with jingling tills, the masses all jostling for position and then  - there were the dulcet tones of the Malton White Star Band.  Thank you, to all the players, for your commitment to the job over two days. There has been much positive feedback.  Fitzwilliam Estates has already booked us again for next year.

Sat 11th June - Trinity Chapel - Summer Fayre

Well done to all players for doing a good job. It was a pity that we had to play in the Church (threat of rain) but some of the players were grateful, preferring the warmth of the Sanctuary.  Lots of positive feedback and the concert was enjoyed by everyone.

Sun 19th June - Eden Camp

This venue is fast becoming our home pitch.  Thank you to Nick (manager) of Eden Camp) for making us so welcome and accommodating us in the cafe entrance, much to the pleasure of our players. The Band did a sterling job and earned their cuppa and scone! Well done to all.  It was good to have Bill Cleghorn with us and it is hoped that he enjoyed taking part in our concert, thank you Bill.  Next up is the Summer Fayre at Thorganby on Saturday 2nd July.

Sat 2nd July - Summer Fayre, Thorganby

Thank you Band for a good turn out and for playing well.  The weather was absolutely brilliant and everyone, in attendance, thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. The echo cornet had another airing and was appreciated by the audience.  Thank you Harry for doing a good job.

Wed 13th July - Summer Concert - Beaumont House

Even though this was a mid week day job, the turn out was exceptional and all players carried off a fine performance.  The residents were well pleased and have requested a return visit, of the band, for their Christmas Party in December.

Eden Camp Weekend - Sat / Sun 16th /17th July

Saturday 16th - Paras

What a miserable day for outside work!  "We can still smile and have fun, we're all family together" says Les.  The outside service had to be abandoned and all retreated to the cafe area.  The band, even small in number, played well and had brilliant comments from the former soldiers of the Coldstream Guards.

Sunday 17th - RAF Association

A repeat of Saturday, again all action was in cafe area. The RAFA were full of praise for the band and were extremely grateful of the band's arrangement of the Association March. The remainder of the luncheon was left out and the band members were treated to a feast at half time and a chance to fill doggy bags at the end!

Thank you for those members who turned out in such inclement weather and did a good job.

Ryedale Show - Tuesday 26th July

Thank you Band for a brilliant turn out and for doing a good job.  The weather was in our favour and the crowd numbers broke all records.

The tea was brilliant too.  Thank you to all the caterers.

Easingwold Bandstand - Sunday 7th August

Thank you Band for braving the stiff breeze and making a good show for the audience. Many good comments have already been received and the people enjoyed the choice of 'light' music.

Our thanks must go to Bill Cleghorn and his team of workers.  Everything was in place and our job was made easy.  It was good not to have to carry our own chairs to the venue.  The hospitality shown to us was of the highest order and was very much appreciated by all. Thank you.

Rosedale Show - Saturday 20th August

What a brilliant day.  The weather was just right and the crowd were very appreciative of our performance.  We played to more people today than throughout the rest of our previous fixtures. Thank you to all our guests who constantly support us. Also, special thanks to Graham, a 'new' friend who certainly made his presence felt by doing a fine job.

Eden Camp - Sunday 21st August

A good final concert of the season.  Weather fine, good conditions for playing in. Thank you Band for a brilliant season, for always being there and showing commitment to the cause. Precious thanks also to our guests who have given time over and above their commitment to their own bands.

Sadly, we have to say goodbye to Harry, our Principal Cornetist.  Harry has gained a place at Cambridge University and so we shall be looking hard to find a replacement before Christmas and next season. Also, we need more tutti players.  Our best wishes go to Peter who, has decided to take a break over the dark winter months. We hope to see him again in the warmth of the summer sun.

Armistice Concert - Friday 11th November

What a fantastic evening we all had. Everyone raised their game and played well.  People were "blown away" by the precision and tuning of the Last Post and Reveille, the best yet! Well done to Tracey and Janella. Thanks also go to our regular guests who helped to make the concert a success.

Check out our Christmas Fixtures at the top of this page.

Thank you all Band Members for a brilliant year.

We now look forward to 2012.
